The Internet in 60 Seconds

A minute might not seem like much in the life of the Internet, but the infographic below from Go-Globe shows just how much happens in just 60 seconds.

In about the time it will take you to read this blog post there will be:in-60-seconds-on-the-internet

  • 694,445 searches on Google
  • 695,000 Facebook updates
  • 370,00 minutes of calls on Skype
  • 98,000 tweets, 20,000 posts on Tumblr
  • 13,000 hours of music streaming on Pandora
  • 12,000 new ads on Craigslist
  • 6,600 pictures uploaded to Flickr
  • 1,500 new blog posts
  • 600 new YouTube videos…

…and people are still joining in the global conversation.  Every minute:

  • 320 new Twitter accounts are registered
  • 100 new LinkedIn accounts re opened
  • And 60 new blogs were created

Perhaps most mind blowing of all: Over 168 million emails are sent every 60 seconds!

This infographic is from late 2011 and early 2012 so all of these numbers have almost certainly increased since then since the Internet continues to grow.

Here is another cool Infographic I found called Every Minute of the day on the Internet.

It claims that every 60 seconds:

  • 684,478 pieces of content are shared on Facebook
  • 2,000,000 search queries are made on Google
  • 48 hours of video are uploaded to YouTube
  • 47,000 apps are downloaded from the App Store
  • 3,600 photos are shared on Instagram
  • 571 new websites are created

…and perhaps most impressively, $272,000 is spent by consumers on web shopping.

But the fun does not here!  Intel created an infographic about 60 seconds on the internet as well called What happens in an Internet minute.

What I find most compelling about this infographic is the prediction that by 2015 there will be twice as many networked devices then there are humans.

If you prefer videos to infographics check out these two videos about what happens on the internet in 60 seconds.

Take the above stats into consideration and realize how massive the opportunity of an online business can be.

The Internet is so massive all you need is a small slice of the pie to create a strong and successful business!

What do you think the most staggering stat is from the infographics and videos above? Let us know in the comments below!

I love seeing these, Garin, because it is amazing how fast they change, and how some of the sites and tools didn’t even exist a short time ago. Some will feel overwhelmed seeing all of this, which is understandable, so it is important to have a plan to start with so we can help discern which tools can be used to ramp up that plan. Thanks for sharing!

Although change can seem overwhelming it is inevitable, so seems to me that in order to gain an edge we need to embrace and take advantage of change, rather than resist it. Thanks for your comment! Cheers. :)
